Interaction Design

As a part of the Information Visualization Studio, the graduating students of 2009 designed and produced multi-touch application for ABC Innovations, a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for digital development. The brief was to design an interactive News display for the foyer of the ABC Headquarters in Sydney.

World Browser – the interactive multi-touch display application visualizes news according to the geo-location. The data was batch extracted from the ABC News website and presented on screen with Touchlib software. The touch screen setup was made with a projector, a sheet of transparent acrylic on plastic, infrared LEDs, and a camera with an IR sensor. I designed the application flow after researching users and worked together with a project manager and two programmers, programmed in Processing.
